On September 26, 2023 Lindbergh Flyers varsity soccer team was scheduled for a home game at Flyers Field against The Desmet Jesuits at 6:00 pm. Unfortunately due to weather conditions, the game was pushed back an hour. At 7:00, the game started back and forth between the Flyers and the Spartans. Although there was no score, Lindbergh was confident even after the 1-0 double overtime loss last season.
“Going into the game, all the boys thought we were going to crush Desmet. We knew it was going to be a hard game, but we all had the mindset we were gonna come out with the win,” senior Elliot Greenwood said.
The game was stopped again due to weather regulations. The game was eventually called off due to weather. The varsity team was disappointed that the homecoming week game was canceled.
“I think it was our best start of the season, and it got cut short. It was one of only home games,” senior Tarik Kapetanovic said.
The game was called before the first half was completed, canceling more than half the game. The Flyers’ mid-season record sat at 12-2 and the players planned to build on that success before the cancellation.
“Yeah we were definitely that better team,” senior Alvi Myrtaj said.
